ACTIV8 (activate) is a place where young people can come and have fun in a safe environment and make positive life choices. It could be a night where we end up making banana splits but also try and fit one back into its skin!! Or it could be that we are racing up and down the auditorium trying to carry as many balloons as possible, or maybe even trying to shave one! ACTIV8 is a chance for young people to enjoy themselves and also start to grapple with the challenges of growing up as a young person today. We also look at topics as diverse as friendship, self-esteem and social justice.

The latest Baptist Magazine is out. We have a copy in the foyer of the church for people to browse through. There’s some great articles in there that are a source of inspiration and hope. There are a couple of articles centered around the Mosque shooting as well as articles on what is happening around New Zealand and globally; all in all an interesting read. We are all about Food for LIFE here at Kaiapoi Baptist Church. It is the tag line of our vision. So this year we are starting a series called CHOOSE Life. It will look at issues of the day. It will help us live as followers of Jesus in a complicated world. The series will be spread throughout the year and begins next week as we tackle: Euthanasia.
CHOOSE Life will also be looking at such diverse topics as: Anger, Abortion, Pornography, Drugs, and Gender.

It’s always a good time! Easter Camp has always been an important moment in the lives of young people. Generations of young people have gathered together to remember and celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
EC19 was no different. The goal of camp was that young people would hear the gospel in a context and way that they can understand it. Mission accomplished!!
It was an great weekend and we took a “small but awesome” group of young people along. We may have been small in number but we made the most of it.
Thanks to those who helped out with set-up, pack down and prayer over the weekend. Without you Easter Camp wouldn’t be the same. See you next year!
This Friday we are having our monthly Family Movie Night. Check out our Facebook page and vote for the nights movie.
The movie begins at 6:30 pm, entry is by donation.
Snacks are available or you can BYO.
Grab the family and head down for a simple night out that is lots of fun.
See you at 67 Fuller Street, upstairs in the Youth Lounge.
In early March we headed of to the Waipara Adventure Centre and spent the weekend together. Church Camp is always a great time to deepen relationships and spend quality time together. This year our focus was Inter-generational Church and we had Andrew from Scripture Union come and share his wisdom and experiences with us. It was an awesome time and Saturday night was a blast – so much line dancing and laughter!
